On Wednesday members of 5150 descend on Austin from parts North, South, East and West.  It is going to be a very good time — and hopefully we all make it out of the Driskill bar alive.

On Thursday, I will be on the roundtable “The Creative Side” at 1 PM at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Crail Hall.  Other panelists include Ernest Cline, Stephen Dyer, Mike Fry, Leon Ichaso, Tim McCanlies, Turk Pipkin, Bryan Poyser, Anne Rapp, Alvaro Rodriguez, Dan Rosen, Beau Thorne, Michael Druxman.  If you get the chance stop by. And if you do not get a chance, do not panic, you get a second chace —

On Friday, when I will be on the roundtable ”The Creative Side” again at 1:45 PM at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Crail Hall with panelists Anthony Bagarozzi, Stephen Dyer, Owen Egerton, Pamela Gray, Rick Jaffa, Tim McCanlies, Dan Rosen, Scott Rosenberg, Terry Rossio, Amanda Silver, Malcolm Spellman, Herschel Weingrod.

In anticipation of pitch frenzy at Austin, AFF posted an excerpt from the The Art of the Pitch lecture series — that is on the AFF blog here.  Good luck to everyone pitching at AFF.  [The Art of the Pitch is a class I teach at Academy of Film Writing.]

Rumor has it Chesher’s short The End of the Innocents is completed and if you catch her at the festival you might even be able to see a sneak preview so look for her.  Rumor also has it there is very cool news coming down about Julie Howe’s feature Jasper Milliken but I cannot spill that yet so you will have to wait and ask her yourself for the inside scoop — both Chesher and Julie will be at the festival. And in other news, Nancy Bilyeau will not be at the festival, but her book The Crown is making a big splash and if you act fast you can grab it in pre-orders so run do not walk to do that.  And, Ryan Jackson’s short story “Only in Fucking Ohio” will be in the upcoming fall issue of Plots With Guns.  Yay!

See you at Austin Film Festival.
